The Qatar Foundation (QF) Research & Development Complex-Phase 1 (RDC1) is part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, located west of the capital of Doha, adjacent to Education City and the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP),
RC Al Mana was awarded Phase 1 of the project as a design and build for a state-of-the-art laboratory research complex. Holding up to 700 staff, RDC1 is the first phase of a broader R&D facility, planned for a total of 3,000-5,000 people.
Among other institutions it will house The Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), The Qatar Energy and Environment Research Institute (QEERI) and The Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI).
The project’s three main buildings were built with a footprint of 19,000 m2 and a total built-up area of 45,500 m2. Buildings 1-South & 2-North include administration offices, special research laboratories, data centers, catering facilities, meeting and conference rooms, etcetera.
Building 3-Utility is 4300 m2 and consists of two floors devoted to MEP equipment, 11 transformers, an MV room, a generator room and a nitrogen tank, in addition to a loading and receiving area.
The allocated plot for the project is 95,000 m2 of beautifully landscaped common areas and parking for 420 cars.
